Frank Lampard has, on Wednesday, moved to provide a fitness update on his side, ahead of a tough clash with Manchester City.
Chelsea vs Man City
Thursday’s marquee Premier League tie pits Chelsea against Manchester City.
Depending on the result of the clash, Liverpool could by crowned champions on Thursday, if the Reds beat Crystal Palace this evening and City fail to garner all three points tomorrow.
However, the title race will likely be the last thing on the minds of Chelsea’s stars, with the race for Champions League football still very tight.
The Blues started Wednesday with a five-point cushion over 5th-placed Manchester United, but that gap has since been cut to just two after the Red Devils saw off Sheffield United earlier today.
As well as keeping a close eye on the chasing pack, meanwhile, Chelsea will also be keen to overtake 3rd-placed Leicester, who dropped points vs Brighton on Tuesday.
So, a win over Man City would no doubt be crucial for Chelsea. However, while Pep Guardiola’s men haven’t enjoyed the perfect 2019/20, they have, to their credit, looked the sharpest of all clubs since the Premier League restart.

Chelsea team news
Ahead of what should be a tightly-contested affair at Stamford Bridge, Frank Lampard held his pre-Man City press conference on Wednesday.
The English tactician discussed a variety of topics during the presser, including the latest Blues team news.
And, on a fairly positive note, Lampard confirmed that Chelsea are in the same position player-wise as they were before facing Aston Villa last week.
The Pensioners boss added that Fikayo Tomori is around a week away from re-joining training, while Callum Hudson-Odoi is not quite match fit yet:
“We are all the same as we were for Aston Villa. Fikayo Tomori still probably about a week away from training with us. Callum Hudson-Odoi is still searching for fitness, fit but not match fit yet.” Quotes via football.london.
Lampard on Havertz
Lampard would also be drawn on Chelsea-linked Kavi Havertz during his City presser.
However, no doubt to the disappointment of the Blues faithful, Lampard assured that the club have not tabled a bid for the German:
