RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano has recently given Manchester United fans some hope of landing the stopper after he confirmed he has been speaking with several clubs.
Man United linked with Upamecano
Upamecano, 21, has emerged as one of German football’s standout centre-backs over the last couple of seasons.
All told, the Frenchman has garnered 113 appearances across all competitions for Leipzig, including a number of impressive displays in the Champions League.
And in recent days, Man United have found themselves heavily linked with a move for the powerful centre-half.
ESPN reported earlier this week that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is targeting the RB Leipzig standout to bolster his defensive options, with it also added that the Norwegian is prioritising the addition of a top-quality centre-back to play alongside Harry Maguire next term.

Upamecano confirms he has spoken to other clubs
Leipzig seem to be aware of these links as on the same day ESPN put our that report, the German outfit’s official Twitter account quote tweeted a post of theirs from July which confirmed the stopper had signed a contract extension until 2023.
Leipzig’s quoted tweet included one emoji:

Meanwhile, Leipzig’s English Twitter account quote tweeted another Upamecano contract announcement tweet with ‘ICYMI’ (in case you missed it):

Whilst it is, of course, just speculation, those tweets do seem to hint Leipzig believe Upamecano will not leave this summer due to him just signing an extension.
However, as mentioned above, the player himself does seem slightly more open to a potential move.
Speaking in a recent interview, Upamecano did confirm that he has extended his contract, but he is also targeted by several clubs and more crucially, he has spoken with other clubs:
“I have extended my contract with Leipzig. I am targeted by several clubs, I speak with clubs, but I have time. We will see what happens in the future.”
