West Ham agree deal for Benrahma
Said Benrahma was one of the Championship’s standout stars last term.
All told, in 43 outings, the winger would net 17 and provided nine assists.
Unsurprisingly, such impressive exploits had led to speculation that a number of Premier League clubs were eyeing a move for the African.
Crystal Palace would find themselves linked over the summer.
But in recent days, it is West Ham who have appeared to have taken the lead in the race for Benrahma’s signature.
It was even reported on Sunday evening by the reliable David Ornstein that West Ham and Brentford had agreed a £30m fee for Benrahma:
Club-to-club agreement for Said Benrahma to join West Ham from Brentford. £30m inc add-ons. Medical likely Weds after int’l duty. Per @JacobSteinberg personal terms still to be done, @SkySportsLyall 1st w/ info last night #WHUFC #BrentfordFC @TheAthleticUK https://t.co/gG4TVCZ9Wt

Aston Villa & Fulham linked with Benrahma
However, after providing the news West Ham fans wanted to hear on Sunday, Ornstein has since put out a slightly less positive update on Monday.
The Athletic reporter does claim that West Ham are still currently in the driver’s seat when it comes to landing Benrahma.
However, it is also reported that fellow Premier League outfits Aston Villa and Fulham are showing late interest in the Brentford star.
Ornstein also adds that though Crystal Palace considered the winger, they were never seriously pursuing him:
Does sound there’s late interest in Benrahma from likes of Aston Villa & Fulham (Crystal Palace considered but were never seriously pursuing) – however as things stand West Ham remain in the driving seat to sign the 25yo winger @TheAthleticUK #WHUFC #BrentfordFC #AVFC #FFC #CPFC https://t.co/bZFbi5HMB3
