Inter Milan got the better of Lazio at the San Siro tonight, with Romelu Lukaku having again proven himself to be one of Europe’s most in-form strikers.

Hosts victorious

Antonio Conte’s men welcomed the Biancocelesti to Milan a short time ago, for a crunch Serie A showdown.

The clash marked a key one in both the race for the title, and the top-4, with Inter ready to take advantage of slip-ups on the part of both AC Milan and Juventus this weekend, to take their place at the Italian top-flight’s summit.

And, as outlined above, when all was said and done, this is precisely what the Nerazzurri managed.

A statement display, both sound in defence and lethal going forward, eventually saw the hosts depart the San Siro with all 3 points, courtesy of a 3-1 win.

Romelu Lukaku put Inter in front from the penalty spot with 22 minutes on the clock, before doubling the home side’s advantage on the stroke of the interval with a clinical right-footed strike:

It was the Belgian’s contribution to Inter’s 3rd, though, which proved his standout moment.

After being set free down the right, Lukaku surged beyond Marco Parolo, drawing Pepe Reina out of the visitors’ net, before calmly rolling across the face of goal for strike partner Lautaro Martinez to slot home:

Big Rom shining

Inter have now officially taken their place atop Serie A, with 22 games played.

And it is hard to argue that Lukaku (along with perhaps Nicolo Barella) has not proven the key reason why.

The former Manchester United man, on the same day that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were toiling en route to a 1-1 stalemate at West Brom, again proved himself to be amongst the best centre-forwards in Europe this evening.

Lukaku has now joined Cristiano Ronaldo at the summit of the Italian top-flight’s goalscoring charts, with the latest impressive statistics surrounding the gifted Belgian’s production showcased below:

Lukaku now has the same amount of goals (16) as Ronaldo in Serie A this season. Wow! 👏👏👏
