The wanted man

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag is a wanted man across Europe for his exploits with the Dutch heavyweights. Since arriving in 2017, he has won the Eredivisie and reached a Champions League semi-final in which he was unfortunate to be knocked out in the final moments by Spurs.

A KNVB Cup was also added to the league title in 2019 and this furthered the former Bayern youth coach’s stock.

With a number of managerial positions across Europe still to be decided and with questions being raised each week, the Dutch coach was and is being considered and looked upon as an option.

Juventus could look to move on Andrea Pirlo after the Italian icon has been unable to continue the club’s dominance in Italy dropping to 4th in the Serie A table.

German clubs Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach will both be on the lookout this summer. Gladbach’s Marco Rose is joining Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season whilst Leverkusen sacked Peter Bosz and appointed Hannes Wolf until the end of the campaign.

Likely to stay

However, these clubs may need to look elsewhere as the Dutch coach seemingly put an end to speculation with his most recent comments.

“It has come up, certainly in the past two weeks”, he said regarding his future.

“But not anymore, I need full attention to what is now. We play in three competitions, one match every three days. Then there is no time to look at next season.

“The future of Ajax is more important. From now on, from this team. That is more important.”

Ajax take on Roma in the last 8 of the Europa League before the KNVB Cup final against Vitesse. The Amsterdam-based club sit top of the Eredivisie 11 points clear of PSV.
