The personnel woes facing Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton took another turn for the worse this evening, during the club’s meeting with Crystal Palace.

All square

The Toffees are of course currently locked in action with Roy Hodgson’s men at Goodison Park, in the penultimate fixture of the Premier League gameweek.

The clash marks Everton’s first since the international break, with the Blues having headed into proceedings eyeing a return to form, on the back of a pair of successive defeats.

As things stand on Merseyside, the scoreline remains locked at 0-0, albeit not due to a lack of trying on the part of the hosts.

Both Richarlison (twice) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have come close to opening the evening’s scoring, only to be thwarted by the in-form Vicente Guaita:

Gomes blow

As outlined above, though, Everton’s struggles to open the scoring have marked the least of their worries thus far this evening.

This comes with the Toffees having also been dealt yet another blow on the personnel front.

Ahead of kick-off, it was revealed that both Allan and Alex Iwobi have joined the likes of Jordan Pickford and Abdoulaye Doucoure on the sidelines:

“We had a little problem in the past few days with Iwobi and Allan. Not a big deal but they are not able to play. Gbamin has a strong desire to play and if I have the possibility, I want to give him minutes.”

And, remarkably, such personnel troubles have since been further added to by Andre Gomes.

With half an hour on the clock at Goodison, Everton’s Portuguese midfielder pulled up in the middle of the park with an unspecified issue.

In turn, after being tended to by the hosts’ medical team, it was quickly decided that he was in no shape to continue, forcing Carlo Ancelotti into an early change:

The extent of Gomes’ injury of course remains to be seen, but those of an Everton persuasion will no doubt be praying for good news over the days ahead.
