Liverpool’s hopes of an unlikely turnaround versus Real Madrid next week have today been boosted, after Los Blancos were dealt a further blow on the personnel front.
The champions of England and Spain are of course set to lock horns once again on Wednesday night, in the 2nd of two Champions League quarter-final meetings.
The opener between the sides played out earlier this week, with hosts Real having secured an early advantage.
A dominant showing eventually saw Vinicius Jr. (2) and Marco Asensio find the net, to guide Zinedine Zidane’s men to a deserved victory.

Mohamed Salah’s strike early in the 2nd-half, though, means that Liverpool are not yet out of the tie, with the Reds expected to emerge for the return clash on Merseyside with all guns blazing.
And, as outlined above, on Saturday, the hopes of the Premier League champions have been dealt a boost.
This comes after Lucas Vazquez joined an ever-lengthening list of defensive absentees for Real Madrid.
Zidane and co. are of course currently locked in Clasico action in the Spanish capital, in a crunch showdown in the race for the La Liga title.
As things stand, Los Blancos boast a 2-1 advantage, courtesy of a moment of magic from the in-form Karim Benzema, and Toni Kroos’ deflected free-kick:

An otherwise positive evening’s work thus far, however, was soured late in the first-half, when, after a heavy collision with Sergio Busquets in the middle of the park, the aforementioned Vazquez was forced to limp off:

The Spaniard was again filling in for the sidelined Dani Carvajal this evening, and follows fellow Real stoppers Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane onto the absentee list.
