Odegaard’s Arsenal stint
Martin Odegaard would, of course, join Arsenal in the winter window after spending much of the first half of 2020/21 in a bit-part role with Real Madrid.
Since making the switch to the Emirates, though, Odegaard has become an essential part of Mikel Arteta’s set-up.
The Norwegian’s clear quality has shone through and he has provided some much-needed creativity in Arsenal’s final third.
Odegaard would open his Arsenal goalscoring account with an absolute rocket vs Olympiacos:

His exploits have also recently earned him first first-ever Arsenal Player of the Month award.
Arsenal & Odegaard
Given his recent showings, the Arsenal faithful will no doubt be hoping that is not the only POTM award he wins for their club, and that the 22-year-old is able to stay in north London beyond the summer.
And Arsenal’s hopes of a permanent deal for the midfielder were boosted earlier this month when it was claimed that the Gunners are ready to step up their interest in the permanent signing of Odegaard after it became apparent that Real would listen to offers to help fund their summer rebuild.
Such hopes do look to have been dealt a blow, however.
According to the Sun, Arsenal are worried that they could lose Odegaard as a result of withdrawing from the European Super League.
Madrid president Florentino Perez has of course been one of the more vocal advocates of the league, and recently blamed one Premier League side for infecting the league.
The Sun go on to claim that Perez is furious with the six English clubs who withdrew from the ESL and is in no mood to grant favours to teams he feels have betrayed him.
