A pair of former Premier League clubs have secured promotion on Saturday, to the Championship and top-tier respectively.

‘Withdraw from Sky Bet League One’

First up are Hull City.

The Tigers have enjoyed a fine campaign to date, en route to the top of the League One table.

In turn, Grant McCann’s men were aware that a victory at Lincoln this afternoon would see them bounce back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

And, when all was said and done, pick up all 3 points is precisely what Hull managed.

Goals from Josh Magennis and Mallik Wilks proved enough to guide the visitors to a 2-1 victory at Sincil Bank, clinching promotion in the process:

Hull’s social media team, meanwhile, also made use of the club’s fine achievement to poke fun at the widely maligned dozen Super League breakaway clubs, courtesy of the following statement:

Hornets back

Elsewhere on the promotion front on Saturday, Watford too celebrated an immediate return, after suffering relegation from the Premier League last time out.

The Hornets welcomed Millwall to Vicarage Road, boasting a 7-point advantage over 3rd-placed Brentford in the Championship table.

In turn, a solitary goal courtesy of star man Ismaila Sarr early on guided Xisco and co. a full 10 points clear of the playoff spots, making mathematically sure of their top-flight comeback.

The result inevitably sparked wild celebrations amongst Watford’s players and staff alike, with the Hornets set to join Norwich City back in the big time for the 2021/22 season:
