Liverpool vs Newcastle
Liverpool host Newcastle tomorrow lunchtime and a win will keep them very much in the hunt for the Champions League places. A win will take them above Chelsea and West Ham ahead of their game later in the day.
Newcastle look as though they will be playing Premier League football next season after their fine 3-2 win over West Ham last week. They are now 8 points ahead of Fulham and the relegation places.
The opening of Jurgen Klopp’s press conference was dominated by talk of the Super League and was asked if the owners had directly apologised to him, to which he responded that;
“I don’t think it’s necessary. I was mentioned in the apology and so was the team. That was personal enough for me.”
Klopp says he hasn’t spoken directly with John W Henry: “I don’t think it’s necessary. I was mentioned in the apology and so was the team. That was personal enough for me.”

He continued to say that he wasn’t a fan of the new Champions League format either but that the best think is that the Super League isn’t going to happen.
🗣 “UEFA didn’t ask us, The Super League didn’t ask us, it’s always just play more games.”

He also said that Nat Phillips is unavailable, but Curtis Jones is back.
Speaking on Newcastle he said;
“They had a good start to the season and then they dropped off a little bit.”
“They have found a system that works with five at the back. Wilson and Saint-Maximin – proper footballers. They have found their line up and we have a job to do. We have to offer a proper, proper fight tomorrow.”
“We have to create, we have to score and we have to defend. We only have massively important games left. Six finals, and we have to win them all.”
