A recent report from Spain has credited Manchester United with an interest in Barcelona’s Miralem Pjanic.
Pjanic out of favour at Barcelona
Miralem Pjanic would join Barcelona in 2020 from Juventus for a reported £54m, though the deal did also see Arthur heading in the opposite direction for a larger sum.
Since making the switch to the Camp Nou, though, Pjanic has not had the most impressive of stints.
The 31-year-old has featured 28 times across all competitions so far this season.
However, in La Liga, he has completed 90 minutes just once and has also seemingly fallen well down the midfield pecking order of Ronald Koeman and has not made it off their bench in Barca’s last six league ties.
And after taking him off at half time in a clash back in February, Koeman would outline what the former Juventus man needs to improve:
“What Miralem Pjanic needs to improve? The speed on the ball and finding his position.”
Man United linked with Pjanic
Despite his recently struggles, though, as mentioned above, Pjanic does look to be attracting interest from a top Premier League side.
The report comes courtesy of Spanish outlet Fichajes, who write that ‘Solskjaer asks for a Barcelona midfielder for summer’.
Fichajes claim that one of the areas United want to strengthen is in the middle of the park, this comes with the Spaniards claiming that Paul Pogba will leave and that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not convinced by Fred.
On Pjanic, they report that he does not enter into Koeman’s plans for 2021/22 and everything seems to indicate that he will leave Barca in the next transfer market, at which point United will make an offer for him.
No potential transfer fee is mentioned in the report.
