Chelsea star Timo Werner has provided an explanation for his celebration, after netting the only goal in the club’s win over West Ham on Saturday.

Blues get the job done

Thomas Tuchel and co. were of course back in action earlier this evening.

The Pensioners made the trip to the London Stadium, for a crunch derby showdown with high-flying West Ham.

Ahead of kick-off, the two sides were locked on points in the Premier League table, amid a tense battle for a spot in the top-4.

When all was said and done, though, it was visitors Chelsea who emerged victorious, taking a significant step towards Champions League qualification in the process.

A solitary goal proved enough to guide the Blues to all three points, after Ben Chilwell’s delivery across the face of goal was directed home by Timo Werner shortly before the interval:

‘Said I would score’

Werner’s finish unsurprisingly invoked a passionate response on the part of the German, amid an altogether hit-and-miss debut campaign in England thus far.

Also notable when it came to Werner’s post-goal actions, though, was the former Leipzig man pointing towards the Chelsea bench.

Questions had since surrounded who exactly he was singling out, with the Blues faithful having been particularly keen for an insight into the situation.

And, as outlined above, such an explanation has, in turn, been forthcoming.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Werner revealed that he was pointing towards fellow attackers Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson-Odoi, after the pair revealed their belief ahead of the clash that the hitman would go on to end his drought versus West Ham:
