Man City linked with Haaland

Erling Haaland joined Borussia Dortmund in January of 2020, and he has since gone on to notch a sensational record both domestically and in Europe.

All told, Haaland has scored 51 goals and provided 14 assists in just 55 outings for BVB, a return which only top players such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski are usually able to provide in Europe’s top-five leagues.

The 20-year-old’s contract is believed to contain a release clause of around £65m, but that is not due to be active until 2022. It is therefore believed that BVB want £154m to part with their star striker this summer.

Such a sum would no doubt price out a number sides.

One outfit, though, who could potentially stump up such a fee are big-money-backed Manchester City.

The Sky Blues have been linked with the hitman of late, with it even claimed last month that Pep Guardiola’s men have emerged as favourites to sign Haaland.

What did Haaland & Foden discuss?

Following these reports, Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund of course faced off twice in the Champions League quarter-finals.

And after each game, Phil Foden and Erling Haaland could be seen in conversation post-match.

Following the games, there was no word forthcoming over what had been discussed, with City fans no doubt hoping it was to do with Haaland coming to the Etihad.

However, it has since been revealed that the pair were not discussing transfer, with Haaland instead having this to say to Foden, who of course scored in both legs:

“I’m the one who was supposed to score the goals.”
