A recent report from Spain has credited Manchester United with an interest in Barcelona’s Miralem Pjanic.
Pjanic out of favour at Barcelona
Miralem Pjanic joined Barca from Juventus last summer for a reported £54m, though the deal also saw Arthur head in the opposite direction for a larger sum.
Since making the switch to the Camp Nou, though, Pjanic has not enjoyed the most impressive of stints.
The 31-year-old has featured 28 times across all competitions so far this season.
However, in La Liga, he has completed 90 minutes just once, sitting well down the midfield pecking order of Ronald Koeman. In fact, Pjanic has not made it off the Blaugrana bench in any of the club’s last six league outings.
After hauling Pjanic off at half-time in a fixture back in February, meanwhile, Koeman outlined where the former Juventus man needs to improve:
“What Miralem Pjanic needs to improve? The speed on the ball and finding his position.”
Man United linked with Pjanic
Despite his recent struggles, though, as mentioned above, Pjanic now appears to be attracting interest from a top Premier League side.
As per a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ‘asks for a Barcelona midfielder for summer’.
Fichajes claim that one of the areas in which Manchester United want to strengthen is the middle of the park. This comes amid the suggestion that Paul Pogba is primed to leave, with Solskjaer unconvinced by Fred.
On Pjanic, the report adds that the Bosnian does not feature in Koeman’s plans for 2021/22, with everything indicating that he will leave Barca during the next transfer market. At this point, United will make an offer.
No potential transfer fee is mentioned by Fichajes.
