A remarkable statistic, highlighting the early career success of Manchester City starlet Phil Foden, has come to the fore online this evening.
Laporte makes the difference
Foden and co. were of course back in action a short time ago.
The Sky Blues made the trip to Wembley, aiming to keep alive their hopes of a treble via a League Cup final victory over Premier League rivals Tottenham.
And, when the 90 minutes were said and done, this is precisely what City managed.
A solitary goal eventually proved enough to guide Pep Guardiola’s men beyond Spurs, and secure the first piece of major silverware of the English calendar in the process.
Aymeric Laporte proved the hero, rising highest to nod home Kevin De Bruyne’s delivery from the left inside the closing ten minutes:

Foden equals Leeds
On the back of the action coming to a close at Wembley, meanwhile, it has since come as little surprise to see a number of the Citizens’ stars singled out for special praise.
Guardiola’s men, all told, played Spurs off the pitch this evening, with the likes of Joao Cancelo, Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez having all impressed.
None, though, has been more widely showered in praise than Phil Foden.
English international Foden was trusted from the off once again on Sunday, and went on to repay the faith of City’s coaching staff with a typically classy, intent-filled display.
And, as outlined above, his role in the club’s latest title win has since given rise to a frankly remarkable statistic.
As revealed by Duncan Alexander of Opta, despite being just 20 years of age, Foden has now clinched as many major honours during his fledgling career as Leeds United have managed in the club’s history:
