PSG vs Man City
The Champions League will return to our screens this week, with two absolutely huge ties.
The first will see PSG play host to Manchester City, in the first of two semi-final meetings.
The two outfits have little experience against one another, with their last clash having come back in the quarter-final of the competition in 2016.
City came out on top on that occasion, marking the last time they made it two the semi-finals of Europe’s most high-profile club competition.
So, this time around, Pep Guardiola will no doubt be desperate to end his barren run in the Champions League, and finally take the Sky Blues to their first final under the current format.
Mbappe update ahead of Man City
Ahead of Wednesday’s tie, PSG were handed something of an injury scare over the weekend, when Kylian Mbappe limped out of their meeting with Metz.
Post-match, Mauricio Pochettino revealed his hope that the issue was nothing serious.
And, thankfully, it does appear as though the Frenchman’s scare was only a minor one.
As reported on The Athletic’s Totally Football Show podcast on Monday, Mbappe was taken off as a precaution, and should therefore be available to face City:
“Yeah he looks like he’s going to be okay. So, he scored a couple of goals against Metz and then I think he got a bang on the thigh and went off as a precaution. But he should be ok.”
Marquinhos, who missed the clash with Metz completely, is also in contention to feature:
“Marquinhos was a big injury doubt, he didn’t feature against Metz but looks like he should be fit to feature, might not be fit enough to start.”
