UEFA not please with Real Madrid
UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin categorised Real Madrid as a separate entity to the English clubs in how he spoke about consequences for the Super League chaos.
Los Blancos along with Barcelona and Juventus are said to be the worst of the now coined ‘Dirty Dozen’ who attempted to form a semi-closed Super League last week.
“You cannot do something like that and just say ‘I’ve been punished because everybody hates me,’” said Ceferin.

“They don’t have problems because of anyone else but themselves. It’s not OK what they did and we will see in the next few days what we have to do.
“But for me it’s a clear difference between the English clubs and the other six. They pulled out first, they admitted they made a mistake. You have to have some greatness to say ‘I was wrong’.
“For me there are three groups of this 12 – the English six, who went out first, then the other three after them and then the ones who feel that Earth is flat and they think the Super League still exists. And there is a big difference between those. But everyone will be held responsible. In what way, we will see.”
With Real Madrid still playing in the Champions League this season, conspiracies regarding possible favouritism to their opponents has grown across social media.
The theory that Real may not be looked favourably upon by UEFA officials during games was put to Raphael Varane ahead of the game and he did not dismiss that this was not a possibility.
He instead explained that the club would focus on what they could control.
“We are focused on what we can control, the effort we will have to make and finding the best way to win the game. Other things are outside our control,” said the French defender.
For record – I dont think Varane was suggesting he was actually worried, just saying he didn’t want to get into this debate, players were just focused on playing the game.

Varane is seemingly coming to the end of his time with Real after refusing all contract offers sent his way so far.
Ironically, Chelsea are one of the main clubs chasing his signature this summer with a mega-move in the offing.
With plenty of exterior factors affecting the defender, he will hope to keep his focus on the match tonight.
