Chelsea draw with Real Madrid
Chelsea were of course in Champions League action on Tuesday evening.
The Blues faced off with Real Madrid in the first of two semi-final clashes, with the winner set to take on Manchester City or PSG in the competition’s showpiece.
Both sides are well known for their defensive prowess, with a tight affair very much expected in the Spanish capital.
And when all was said and done, that is exactly what played out after Karim Benzema’s stunning volley cancelled out Christian Pulisic’s opener, with Chelsea now holding the advantage heading into the return leg at Stamford Bridge:
THUNDEROUS FINISH! ⚡️
Benzema smashes the ball home on the turn and volley. Such a clinical strike!

Thiago Silva’s wife not happy with Werner
Before proceedings got underway on Tuesday, Chelsea fans would most likely have been quite pleased with a 1-1 draw in Madrid.
However, it is hard not to argue that Chelsea should have probably got more out of the clash.
The Londoners dominated for large stretches and seriously limited Real’s attacking threat.
But yet again Chelsea, in particular Timo Werner, were fairly poor in front of goal on Tuesday.
The German missed a chance from six yards against Madrid early on, leading to the following statistic emerging online:
No Premier League player has missed more Big Chances in league and European competition this season than Timo Werner:
◎ 29 Big Chances
◉ 21 missed
◎ 8 scored

Werner’s display also garnered some attention from Thiago Silva’s wife, who let her displeasure be known on her Instagram story, in which she called Werner a worm:
Basically Thiago Silva wife said this on her insta stories;
“This is karma guys every team I go to there is a striker that keep missing goals this Werner – what is his name? VERME (in Portuguese it means worm)” #CFC
