Manchester United, and any other suitors for that matter, have this weekend been handed a boost in the race for Jadon Sancho’s signature.

Reds remain keen

Speculation surrounding the future of Borussia Dortmund wide-man Sancho has of course come back to the fore in a major way over the last couple of days.

This comes after an update on the English international’s links to Old Trafford was forthcoming.

As per ‘transfer insider’ Dean Jones, the Red Devils remain at the front of the queue in the battle for Sancho’s signature.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to have made clear that he views the winger as the perfect summer addition to his squad, with the board at Signal Iduna Park ready to sanction a deal worth less than the previously quoted price-tag of £100 million.

In turn, it appears as though the upcoming transfer window may yet prove the one in which Sancho is finally lured away from the Bundesliga, back to the Premier League.

‘Leave under certain conditions’

And, as outlined above, this weekend, any clubs keen to take advantage of the situation have been handed a further boost.

This comes in the form of confirmation on the part of Dortmund chief Michael Zorc that a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ is in place between club and player, to sanction a transfer this summer.

In fact, Zorc suggests that such terms have been in place since 2020.

Erling Haaland, on the other hand, looks set to stay put for at least another season:

Borussia Dortmund director Zorc to ARD: “We already had a gentlemen’s agreement with Jadon Sancho since last year that he can leave the club under certain conditions”. 🟡⚫️

“However, this agreement does *not* exist with Erling Haaland”. 🚫 #BVB
