An update on the wellbeing of Arsenal star David Luiz has been forthcoming online, after the defender was forced to limp out of yesterday’s meeting with Newcastle.

Elneny & Auba on target

The Gunners were of course back in action on Sunday afternoon.

Arsenal made the trip to St. James’ Park, for a Premier League meeting with Newcastle United.

Arteta and co. headed into proceedings with one eye very much on matters in midweek, with the north Londoners of course set to face off with Villarreal in the 2nd-leg of their Europa League semi-final tie on Thursday night.

In turn, heavy changes were forthcoming, with the likes of Bernd Leno, Pablo Mari, Emile Smith Rowe, Thomas Partey and Bukayo Saka having been rested.

When all was said and done on Tyneside, though, it was two of those reintroduced to Arteta’s starting XI who proved the difference for the visitors.

First up was Mohamed Elneny, who drove a fine effort beyond Martin Dubravka from the edge of the area with just five minutes on the clock.

Luiz latest

As outlined above, however, on an otherwise positive afternoon, the Gunners, on Sunday, were also dealt a blow on the personnel front.

This came early in the 2nd-half when David Luiz, who had of course just returned to the pitch on the back of a knee issue, was forced to hobble off once again.

The Brazilian picked up what appeared to be a hamstring problem, throwing his availability for the remaining weeks of the campaign swiftly up in the air.
