Mikel Arteta’s men are of course in the midst of an absolutely crucial stretch of the club’s campaign.
Having long seen their hopes of success on the domestic front go up in smoke, the Gunners have switched their focus firmly to matters on the continent.
In turn, Arsenal made the trip to Spain last Thursday night, for the first-leg of their Europa League semi-final showdown with Villarreal.
A concerning display eventually saw the north Londoners condemned to a deserved defeat. Nicolas Pepe’s late away goal, though, could yet prove crucial in guiding Arteta and co. beyond Villarreal and former boss Unai Emery.
