An update on the future of West Brom goalkeeper Same Johnstone has emerged on Tuesday.

West Brom to be relegated

West Brom would of course secure a return to the Premier League last summer.

However, the Baggies, though it is not currently confirmed, are now almost certainly set for a swift return to the Championship.

After their 1-1 draw with Wolves on Monday, West Brom are 10 points from safety with just four games left to play – meaning their relegation is likely to be confirmed this weekend.

West Brom want £20m for Sam Johnstone

When a side is relegated, there are generally a few players who fellow Premier League teams will be interested in signing.

West Brom do not have an awful lot of those options at the moment, but perhaps the most obvious is Sam Johnstone.

Johnstone signed for West Brom from Manchester United in 2018 and was essential in the Midlands-based outfit securing promotion to the PL.

Now, though, with the reality of relegation setting in, it appears West Brom are willing to part with Johnstone for the right price.

As per the Telegraph, West Brom are set to demand £20m for Sam Johnstone if they are relegated from the Premier League.

In terms of potential suitors of Johnstone, Manchester United were linked with the shot-stopper in April.

And the report from the Telegraph on Tuesday claims that Johnstone is emerging as a target for Tottenham and West Ham, whilst Man United are also considering a move for their former player with the future of David De Gea uncertain ahead of next season.
