Chelsea vs Leicester City
Chelsea are set to face off with Leicester City for the second time in less than a week on Tuesday.
The pair would of course meet in the FA Cup final over the weekend, with the Foxes coming out on top then thanks to a brilliant Youri Tielemans strike.
This game, though, is arguably just as or maybe more important for the Blues as they have still not secured a Champions League place with two games to play.
Chelsea will kick-off on Tuesday 4th in the PL, two points behind Leicester in 3rd. The Londoners, though, are also just one point above Liverpool, who have a much easier end to the campaign.
Tuchel on Rudiger’s contract
Ahead of Tuesday’s must-win tie, Thomas Tuchel spoke to the media on Monday.
The German discussed a number of topics in his press conference, including Antonio Rudiger.
Rudiger has been one of Chelsea’s better players since Tuchel arrived at Stamford Bridge, but his long-term future remains up in the air with the stopper set to have just one year left on his deal come the summer.
When asked if he would be pushing for a new contract for Rudiger in his presser, though, Tuchel stated:
“Nothing is better than what is doing for a new contract. If he wants to have a new contract he has our full support to stay at the club. He is speaking with his performances; he has been amazing since day one.
“We chose him in the first match after just one day of training. It was an unfair decision against Kurt but he’s [Rudiger’s] German and I had a clearer picture of what he can do, of course, because I’ve followed him more than Kurt Zouma. I had a clear picture of what he can deliver to a team and he took the chance.
“Since then it’s well deserved he is in the team. He is an aggressive leader, has this natural aggressivity in him. He hates to lose, is hard to beat in duels, is very brave, and full of energy in his defending. He is leading by example and has a very positive aggressivity in him.
“This is what we like. When he can channel all this into top performances, as he does now, we are all very happy to have him.”
