Ibrahimovic says Euro dream ‘not over!’

There have been some legendary players through the years in the sport of football from prolific goalscorers like Eusebio to skilful artists with a ball such as Ronaldinho.

However, whilst some of the greatest footballing attributes can be associated to him, very few can match the confidence and self belief of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Ruled out of playing this summer at Euro 2020, it was a huge blow to the tournament which was hoping to get a final glimpse of the nation’s iconic striker.

However, Zlatan has left a message for those who doubt he will play. Whilst not outright confirming his return, he is seemingly doing everything he can to try and play.

‘It’s not over until I say it’s over,’ wrote Ibrahimovic on his Instagram page.

The video of the Swede on a treadmill may be inspiring, but he remains a long way from kicking a ball on a training field or taking part in matches.

The recall

In very Zlatan-like fashion, the striker announced his return to the international scene with a classic image on social media.

Coach Janne Andersson said he found the tweet ‘funny’ but was grateful to see Ibrahimovic back on the scene.

“He can be a little bit funny at times,” Andersson said.

“First and foremost he is a very good footballer, the best we have had in Sweden. It’s obviously very good that he wants to come back.

“Apart from what he can contribute on the field, he has incredible experience and can contribute that to the other players in the team.”

Now, after all the hype, the dream may be over. Ibrahimovic better keep up the pace should he want to be back in time.
