Barcelona to buy Emerson

Barcelona are looking to complete what was almost a formality this summer in the signing of Brazilian right back Emerson from Real Betis.

The Seville-based club confirmed this on their official radio station.

“Barcelona will pay nine million euros, it was a deal which was already more or less agreed,” said Juan Bustos of RTV Betis.

“There is a good relationship between the clubs and this is good news. It is a shame to see the player leave because he has grown a lot here.”

Barcelona and Real Betis had an agreement when Emerson was purchased from Atletico Mineiro. He would arrive at Betis before having the option to join Barca this year which they will now move forward with.

Barcelona still have Sergino Dest after purchasing him from Ajax and therefore could sell Emerson on for a greater profit this same window.

Although Dest’s versatility means both could theoretically still play.

Betis could move for Bellerin

One of the players that Real Betis may move for is Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin.

Having become more of a back-up option in the latter stages of the season since the return of Calum Chambers, the Spaniard is looking to find a new challenge away from London.

He has struggled to reach his best form since suffering a serious knee injury against Chelsea. Losing his place at the club and all hope of a return to the Spanish national team for the European Championships.

Betis chief Martinez Feria however has said that whilst Bellerin fits what they want, no discussion shave yet taken place.

‘We are not making, and I say this emphatically, an effort to sign the player,’ he said.

‘However, he is among the positions we are looking for and is a player of a perfect fit for us.

‘He could be a candidate but we are not talking to Arsenal at the moment about Bellerin.’

Arsenal are looking to make some serious income regarding their player sales this summer with a whole host of possible departures possible. Bellerin could be one of the higher value assets they look to move on.
