A fresh update on the sides interested in Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba has emerged recently.
Edmond Tapsoba’s Bayer Leverkusen stint
Edmond Tapsoba would join Bayer Leverkusen in January of 2020 for a fee believed to be around £16m.
Since making the switch to Germany Tapsoba has slotted straight into Leverkusen’s backline.
The 22-year-old would feature 14 times in the Bundesliga during the second half of 2019/20.
This past season then saw Tapsoba notch 39 appearances across all competitions, playing a key role in Leverkusen securing a Europa League berth for 2021/22.
Trio of Premier League clubs linked with Edmond Tapsoba
The youngster is a strong, tall centre-back who is also good with his feet. And given his age, Tapsoba seemingly still has much room to develop even further.
Now, the Burkina Faso international looks to have attracted interest from a number of Premier League sides.
Arsenal were the first English side to be credited with an interest in the stopper.
The Athletic reported last week that:
Arsenal are seriously interested in Bayer Leverkusen’s 22-year-old centre-half Edmond Tapsoba.
Since that news broke, however, the likelihood of the Gunners actually signing Tapsoba does appear to be slim.
Firstly because it has been claimed that any club would need to bid at least €60m to open talks for Tapsoba.
Several UK clubs are interested in Edmond Tapsoba (also #AFC). The 22-year-old has NO release clause in his contract until 2026. Bayer Leverkusen normally don’t want to sell the centre-back this summer as he is one of the key players. A club has to bid €60m to open talks. ⚫️🔴

And with Arsenal set to have zero European football next term, can they actually afford to spend that sort of money on one player?
Now it has been claimed by SportBild (as cited by Sport Witness) that Manchester United and Chelsea are also interested in the defender.
It is added that Chelsea and United have made contact to ask about Tapsoba.
Arsenal’s interest in Tapsoba is also mentioned, but it doesn’t sound good for the Gunners, with it claimed that the north Londoners have little chance of landing the centre-half after finishing 8th in the PL last term.
Arsenal’s interest is mentioned, but it’s reported they have ‘little chance’ after finishing the 2020/21 season in the eighth spot. The option to join either Chelsea or United would be more interesting to the defender than moving to the Emirates.
