Arsenal want Onana
Arsenal are on the lookout to bring in a goalkeeper this summer. The Gunners signed Mat Ryan from Brighton in January however he returned at the end of the season.
He could yet be re-signed this summer however Arsenal are also looking at a starting keeper to replace Bernd Leno. Ajax’s currently banned keeper Andre Onana is seen as an economically favourable option.
– Arsenal are in direct contact wih his agents since January.
– Definitive suspension period will be key to understand Onana’s future.
– Impossible to bring Szczesny back, NO chance.

The Telegraph reported that he could be available for a fee of around just £7 million.
Onana’s Ajax contract expires next summer and reports in Holland have suggested there is no expectation that either he or the club will commit to a new deal.
He could therefore cost as little as around £7 million, if the ban is reduced. If he cannot play until February, as is currently the case, then the transfer fee would be even lower.
“Available for scraps”
Speaking with The Gooner Talk, ESPN’s Yordi Yamali broke down what Arsenal fans could expect from Onana.
“Andre Onana, the potential transfer steal of the season. He’s an amazing goalkeeper and he’s now available for scraps,” said Yamali.
“He came with little expectations, I think, without expectations. Marc Overmars bought him from Barcelona for justice €150,000, he took his opportunity in the second team. The people who watch those games were really critical about him and they didn’t see any potential.
“But two seasons later, when Jasper Cillessen made his transfer to Barcelona, the acting coach at that time made the decision to first try Andre before getting a new goalkeeper and that was a great decision.
“I think he’s amazing goalkeeper. His reflexes are great, he’s good with hands and with his feet. Sometimes high balls can be a little spooky for him.
“Everybody saw it in the Champions league run, I think everybody was expecting him to leave like a couple other players, but he decided to stay.
“Then came the big news in January that he was caught using illegal substances. He was suspended for 12 months, already six months past, so the last six months he didn’t train.
The Ajax squad wore André Onana’s name and number before their latest match, after he was banned for 12 months for a doping violation.
The keeper said he mistakenly took a tablet that was prescribed to his wife after feeling unwell. pic.twitter.com/qZogPmjlJo

“Now he wants to leave and with Ajax they can’t get the value that he is worth.
“I think he’s a goalkeeper worth around 25 maybe 3€0 million, if you would have bought him back in 2019.
“If arsenal has the patience with him, I think it would be a great transfer, definitely better than the current goalkeeper [Bernd Leno].”
