Vieira’s stock rises

It has been a whirlwind week for Fabio Vieira.

Starring in Portugal’s U21 side’s journey to the European Championships final, he suffered heartbreak at the hands of Germany, who defeated the Portuguese 1-0 to lift the trophy.

Despite this disappointment, Vieira picked up a personal accolade, winning the player of the tournament award, which has previously been held by the likes of Thiago and William Carvalho.

🗣️ “An excellent link between midfield and attack.”

The 20-year-old provided one goal and one assist in the tournament, but was integral to Portugal’s attack, with much of the nation’s good work coming through the number 10.

He already has considerable top-flight experience too,  appearing 19 times for Porto in the Primera Liga this season. In his home nation, he is widely considered one of the top young talents.

He could be available on the cheap too, with the youngster out of contract in 2022 according to Transfermarkt.co.uk. This means that he could leave Porto on a free transfer next summer.

Vieira on Liverpool’s radar

Now, according to journalist Bruno Andrade, he has turned the head of Premier League giants Liverpool.

On the other hand, Porto are very keen to renew his contract and, according to Andrade, Vieira is “interested” in hearing any potential offer from his current club.

Whether the lure of Merseyside and the Premier League proves to be too much to resist remains to be seen.
